Baseball Jersey REVIVED!

Albuquerque is home to the Isotopes, Triple A baseball club for the LA Dodgers. The 'Topes have a new beautiful stadium and with my company having season tickets (lucky me!) we get to see a fair share of games. I got a free 'Topes jersey earlier in the summer, you know, the typical give away item. Not the best quality and of course it was a mens XL.

Well, just in time for the season closer I did some surgery on the jersey and made a dress. Note: I would have never cut up a jersey had it been the expensive ones from the gift shop!

(FYI - This is Orbit, our goofy mascot...still don't know exactly what he is, but man can he dance!)

So I cut off the original jersey sleeves, took in about 6-8 inches in the bust and tapered the jersey down to the bottom.Cut the trim off the original sleeves, added the trim back to the "holes" that became my new tiny sleeves and finally added a five inch ruffle to the bottom. Took a little over an hour and a half to complete.

I also, rocked the Isotopes bottle cap earrings my friend Mary made for me. Thanks Mary! I got a ton of compliments on them!

Finally the rain came but not until the bottom of the 8th inning. Best part of it, THEY CONTINUED ON WITH THE FIREWORKS SHOW! It was amazing to see a fireworks and a lightning show at the same time. Here is a cool shot of the staff covering the infield to protect it from the rain.

Hope you got to spend a few summer nights watching some baseball with your friends and family!

Zipper Scrap Clutch

Been saving my zipper scraps for a while and decided to finally do something fun with them. The zippers are not functional so I just used a zigzag stitch to attach them to the fabric before assembling the clutch.

I don't have a zipper foot for my new machine, so I just doubled up the magnetic buttons. Turned out cute, but probably not great if you have change and small things to carry around!

Fun little project, definitely worth the few broken needles I had :(

Now back to work tomorrow!

BIG Flowers

A few weeks ago -- oh wait it’s been months -- I tried to make a felt flower pillow and faired to be pretty successful. Of course the mother of mine LOVED the pillow and begged for one. Well lucky for her, her birthday was right around the corner so I went shopping and found felt in every color possible (felt is so cheap, so you can buy tons!). I wanted to make a pair of pillows to match her guest bedroom which is decorated in bright colors—mostly turquoise and red.

I found two old pillows in her junk stash (extra bedroom closet) and used the pillow forms for her new pillows. The canvas-type home dec that I found went with her décor perfectly. She was beyond excited when I delivered her new pillows, despite the fact they were about a month late…

Happy Birthday Mom (again!)!
